Bowling

We are bowling every Monday between the hours of 3pm and 5pm. We are still at South County Lanes in Payson.

Everyone who attended the area bowling tournament did great! All of our athletes received medals.

Just a friendly reminder that your coaches are volunteers. We do not get a paycheck for what we do. Therefore, if you don't like the way something is happening, you are more than welcome to sign up to be a volunteer as well. Parents sometimes make the best coaches. You can volunteer to help with coaching each event, or calling people with reminders or writing articles for the newspaper, or filling in when a coach will be absent. All of these things would be helpful to us and help our team run smoothly.

Our good friend and team mate Dan Downey passed away on September 20, 2010. We are so sad to lose such a good guy. He has always been a delight to work with... We have always enjoyed being entertained by Dan. He was a friend to all and we love and miss him.

Below is his obituary and info on the funeral.

Our Little angel Dan Patrick Downey reunited with his best buddy and daddy who died 14 years ago to the day on September 20.

Dan was born on April 23, 1974 to Ned Owen and Carol Elaine Steele Downey in Payson hospital. He loved people and life and was a diehard JAZZ Fan.
The family would like to thank everyone who helpe...d to make his life so great and brought him so much happiness and joy. Basketball players, coaches, bowling buddies, Special Olympics and special friends, everyone involved in special primary over the years, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, girlfriends and hunting buddies.

Dan was warmly welcomed back to his heavenly home by his nephews Jared and Eric and several grandparents and family members.
Survived by his angel mother Carol, brothers and sisters Dennis (Debbie) Downey, Jeff (Valorie) Downey, Joy (Joe) Drage, Rose Mary (Jeff) Nyman, Kristina (Ross) Christensen, Lisa Wood, Kelly (Tina) Downey, Rusty (Sarah) Downey, and 87 nieces, nephews and family members who love him very much. He is our rock, the glue that holds the family together and our hero. We thank our heavenly father for allowing us all to have him in our lives for 36 wonderful years.
Dan we will miss you, you will always be in our hearts.

We will begin our track season on April 1, 2010. Practice will be at the Payson high school track at 4:00 p.m. Track practice will be approximately 45 minutes.

We will NOT have practice on April 8th because of Spring Break.

The area meet will be held on May 14th at Mountain view track in Orem, starting at 8:45 a.m.

This year swimming will be held in Santaquin at the Francom pool. The address is 251 east 200 south. We hope this will work out better for us. The pool will be reserved from 12:00 to 1:15 every Thursday starting JULY 9th. We will work a little bit on our swimming skills but want everyone to come and have fun as well.

Everyone had a great time at state bowling. This year the Nebo Athletes had 2 Unified teams and 4 individuals who made it to state.

We are looking for more dedicated individuals to coach special olympics. This is a volunteer job. that will only require 1-2 hours a week for most of the year. Our team is getting quite big. We want to make sure that Special Olympics continues to be a positive experience for everyone. Therefore we need more help to keep up with our growing team. dress code for bowling: No jeans! they will not let you bowl if you wear jeans. Khakis or black pants are acceptable. Unified bowling will be held on March 4th at 10:00 a.m at the Payson bowling alley.

open bowling will be on March 14th, 9:00 am. Jack and Jill Bowling located at 105 south 700 east American Fork.

Developmental bowling will be held on March 7th, at Miracle bowl 1585 south state street in Orem

Reminder all new athletes need medical forms completed to compete. If you need a form contact one of the coaches. the form must be signed by a doctor or nurse practitioner.

Start dusting off that bowling ball. There is not much time to spare. The Nebo Athletes begin the bowling season January 15th, 2009. We will be at Our favorite bowling alley, South County Lanes in Payson. We will continue to bowl on Thursdays. The time we have available for practice is 3:00- 5:00 p.m. Remember you may only bowl for one of those hours. Pick which hour fits into your schedule. We can't wait to see your smiling faces start rolling into practice.
